I have always had an interest in cerebral palsy
ever since the birth of my brother Adam. Like
millions of children around the world, Adam
was born with brain damage, which would have
him, face a life time of severe disability for
which there is no hope. As my mother and I
began the world wide search for treatments and
care, we began to realize that there are many
people who offer treatment that are not valid
and others that have unique treatment that can
improve functions.

Unfortunately the reality is that there is no
cure. As we struggled in our quest we realized
that we were not alone and that millions of
families around the world were suffering the
same problem. This has become such a dramatic
episode of my life that, I have focused my
efforts on developing a foundation. The
aim of this foundation would
be to bring together those elements, from traditional
and non traditional medicines, which can improve
the quality of life of children with cerebral
palsy and other disabling conditions. With
this in focus The ASHA Foundation was born. With
support and guidance of co-founder Ramesh Vangal the Foundation was able to start
in India in late 2001. Our sole purpose is to
improve the quality of life of children and
adults who otherwise would face a lifetime
paralysis. |
